terms

sameorigin is a paid, private community for web developers, run by jonas schmedtmann, lda., a company registered in portugal under nipc 513845518. contact: [email protected]. joining means you agree to this.

who sells it

paddle.com is the merchant of record: paddle sells the membership, takes the payment and handles vat, and paddle's buyer terms apply to that transaction. we run the community.

the membership

• $19 a year through paddle, renewing yearly until you cancel. paddle shows the total in your currency before you pay.
• cancel any time in the customer portal in settings. cancelling stops the next charge; the membership runs to the end of the paid period.
• we email you at least thirty days before any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
• you must be at least sixteen. one membership is one person.

changing your mind

fourteen days from any payment, first or renewal, and you get all of it back, no questions. that is more than the statutory right of withdrawal leaves you here, since the membership starts the moment you pay and you ask us to start it. the refund page says how.

what you may write

• write it yourself. no post, reply or message may be written by a model. paste code from anywhere; the words are yours.
• no spam, no promotion, no harassment, no doxxing, nothing illegal.
• your room is private to the fifteen people in it. what is said there stays there.
• you keep the rights to what you write, and give us the right to show it to other members and keep it in backups for as long as the place runs. delete your account and your handle, email and avatar go; what you wrote stays with the author shown as a deleted member.

moderation

moderators may remove content, warn, mute for a day or a week, move posts and pin them. the admin may end a membership for a serious or repeated breach, and refunds the rest of the year unless the breach was deliberate. you can leave whenever you like.

the small print

we do our best to keep the place up and your data safe, but it is provided as it is: no promise of no downtime, and features may change. if we close it for good we refund the unused part of your year.

nothing here takes away your rights as a consumer under the law of the country you live in, and nothing limits our liability for death or injury, fraud, or anything else the law does not allow us to limit. beyond that our liability is limited to what you paid us in the last twelve months.

portuguese law, portuguese courts; as a consumer in another eu country you keep your own country's protections and your own courts.

we post any change to these terms here, and email members at least fourteen days before a material one takes effect.
